I want to take a moment to recognize what true customer service looks like, because unfortunately it has become rare. Bates Heating and Air in Granbury proved to me that it still exists.
When I called them, I was convinced my pipes had frozen and I was facing a major problem. They responded promptly and professionally. After diagnosing the issue, I was told I would likely need a new coil. Instead of just selling me the repair, they did something that speaks volumes about their integrity — they called the distributor to check the warranty first.
That one extra step saved me a significant amount of money. The unit was still covered.
They then quoted a very fair labor price, explained everything clearly, and made sure we would be protected as the Texas heat approaches. They even told me if the freon ever dropped, to call them and they would come right back. No runaround. No fine print. Just confidence in their work.
Today Andy and Donny arrived with the replacement coil. Within about an hour, everything was installed and running perfectly. What impressed me most wasn't just their technical skill — it was their attitude. Professional. Respectful. Efficient. Positive. The kind of people you actually feel comfortable having in your home.
What makes this even more meaningful is something they did not know: I am currently battling cancer. Yet they treated me with a level of kindness, patience, and professionalism that genuinely made a difficult time a little easier. That kind of character cannot be faked.

Both my AC units went down at the same time. Thank goodness it wasn’t 100 degrees weather. Adam came out the same day I called. He was very thorough with his service diagnostics. He checked everything out and found what was wrong. He checked to see if parts were still under warranty. Luckily it was! He even showed me what part and where it was leaking, and explained to me what was needed for the repair. He ordered the parts, and 2 days later both systems were fixed and up and running. I’ve used Bates multiple times now and have been pleased on all occasions! Back in May, our A/C stopped working. They had someone over here within a few hours, found the issue quickly (capacitor), and replaced it.

Bates AC’s rep explained everything to me! I now have AC (I was going to have to wait at least another week with the other company). Totally a full month without air conditioning in hot Texas. I felt that the owner of Bates and his tech really cared and wanted to help. Their callout fee and adding Freon fees were cheaper than the others and this tech actually asked for the instructions for the thermostat setting, which was impressive!

I highly recommend Bates to perform A/C diagnostics as well as maintenance. Bates was able to quickly diagnose and fix the problems with a new air handler I had installed by another company located in Granbury. The other company has been out several times and apparently has been trying to sell me things that I do not need, such as a new compressor in addition to new duct work. If they would have adjusted the air flow correctly, my problems would have been prevented. I am so happy that my house is now cooling properly. I am so pleased with them I am having a complete new A/C system installed in another area on my property. Their maintenance agreements are also very reasonable.
